About Us

“Carrie...seriously, what’s the deal with all these tins?”
This is the question from my husband, Cameron, that marked the birth of Tin Box Jewelry. The conversation progressed from there:
“Aren’t they beautiful?”
“They are everywhere. Are they just decorations or are they dust collectors?”
“Look at the colors, the amazing detail, the craftsmanship!”
“If you love the boxes so much why don’t you wear them or something?”
This was my ah-ha moment! I had been collecting tins, maybe a lot of tins, I do truly adore all of the designs, colors and the durability. Although I have been making jewelry since I was 8 years old, I had never fallen in love with a jewelry medium so deeply until I cut my first tin. I now collect tins in earnest. My kids know that we will stop at yard sales, thrift stores and estate sales on our daily travels. They will roll their eyes and act annoyed, but we will stop anyway!
Each tin is cleaned, cut, shaped, sanded and paired with beads and baubles that make each and every piece of Tin Box Jewelry into a one-of-a-kind work of art. I use reclaimed and vintage beads and chain when available. I have a hard time letting go of any piece of jewelry, you are pretty lucky that I like you and am willing to share them with just you.
I like to say that I create Modern jewelry with a vintage soul. I truly believe that each piece of jewelry honors its past while forging a new eco-conscious future. Thank you for joining me on this journey!
